1 stars (eye opening book) - very informative book. this kind of information will not be found in pharma sponsored publications. you owe it to yourself to pick this one up. 5 stars (This book saved my life) - Notice how all the negative reviews are from people who haven't even tried using the information in the book to cure themselves? Bunch of cynics and skeptics who would negate the book no matter what information it contains, because they think they're working for A Current Affair or something. Meanwhile, they're missing out on the most amazing book I've ever read. I am one of the world's biggest skeptics, I am an agnostic, I don't follow any religion, I don't believe in "new-agey" remedies, I don't believe in fate; I believe in science, not superstition. That's the point, this is not some crackpot or new-agey theory, everything stated by Dr Clark makes perfect scientific sense. I hadn't even read the book and I tried the "zapper" not expecting anything and actually hoping to discount it, but it instantly nearly cured me of manic depression and the constant flu-like / CFS symptoms I had been dealing with for years. As I continued the treatment, in conjunction with having all my mercury amalgam fillings removed, my situation continued to improve to the point where I can now live a totally normal life. Before starting Dr Clark's treatments, I couldn't even work a regular job and was sick, exhausted and depressed all the time. This is the most important book I have ever read and it saved my life! Don't listen to the doubters. 5 stars (A great resource) - Knowing people that have been helped by similar techniques, I'm now able to understand how it all works. ... 2 stars (Disappointed) - My opinion is the food plan will work but this book is not laid out well. I found myself going back and forth trying to locate the info I needed. The book refers to info in previous written books which I do not own. This info should be included in this book! The first 4 chapters tend to cover the science aspect of the diet...For me a simple statement would do since I don't have any interest in the rest or even understand most of it to be simply honest. Moving ahead...I did begin the cleanse process, only using 1 of the supplements suggested...(taking herbal la'xs 3 'xs daily is not healthy in my opinion so I chose not to use that portion of the cleanse) I did lose 6.5# my first week. Even though I have had success with the cleanse part of the diet, I am disappointed in the book as a whole. 4 stars (GOOD INFORMATION FOR DETOXING AND FOR CHOOSING WATER) - I LIKED THIS BOOK, I HAVE BEEN STUDYING HEALTH AND NUTRITION FOR OVER 20 YEARS. THIS BOOK REALLY HELPS YOU TO CHOOSE A GOOD PH BALANCED WATER. AS A RESULT OF THE INFORMATION I FOUND A WATER THAT IS REALLY BETTER THAN THE REST. TRINITY WATER IS REALLY BETTER THAN ALOT OF THE WATERS I HAVE USED. EVERY BOOK I READ THAT GIVES ME SOME KIND OF BENEFICIAL INFORMATION IS USEFUL. THIS WAS ONE OF THOSE BOOKS. I RECOMEND IT. 5 stars (PH Miracle for Weight Loss) - Finally! A detailed plan of diet that will serve excellent health for the lifetime! Not just a weight loss book, but a way to feel great, and detoxify the entire body. The weight is dropping, and energy is increasing after just 3 weeks! Thank you, Robert and Shelley Young. ... 5 stars (The book you need) - As an infectious disease fellow, I recommend that anyone who want be an ID man should have such a book. Most infectious problems and diseases have been detailed in this book, although there are far going of emerging diseases and new antibiotics. The only shortcomes of this book are lackiing comprehensive details and reveiw of antimicrobial therapy for some disease entities. 5 stars (A good clinical microbiology text) - The two volume set is indeed a comprehensive reference work, but individual chapter can be read by themselves. I use this book on almost a daily basis, the only negative against it is that such a large book by its size can only be updated at intervals of a number of years so a folder in which to put your acculated journal articles next to it, until the next edition is advised as, infectious diseases is not a static field. Since there is a CD rom available now that may well be worth checking out. In closing for anybody involved in anything from clinical microbiology to a infectious disease specialist this book is a must. 5 stars (Every Infectious Disease specialist has one!) - I'm an Infectious Diseases fellow, and everyone who rotates through this training program, obtains in some way or another, a copy of this book. It is an awesome review of every known topic in infectious diseases. The first volume consists of I. Principles II. Syndromes. Principles focuses on topics ranging from antibiotics, their mechanism of action, pharmocokinetics and methods of bacterial resistance, to epidemiology and infection control. Syndromes focuses on various clinical problems from the "common cold" to endocarditis. These are heavily researched, and supported with your standard references section for further investigation. Each disease is discussed in detail and includes clinical symptoms, epidemiology, etiology, complications, and treatment. My only criticism is that the treatment sections - often the focus of any infectious disease cons... 5 stars (Excellent health reference ) - I have several books in my library which cover equine health but this is certainly the most comprehensive. The book is set out in chapters which cover the major systems of the horse - respiratory, circulatory, nervous, reproductive etc Each chapter then starts with a complete explaination of that system and follows with an alphabetic listing of the problems or diseases. There are plenty of clear photos and diagrams and there are two further indexes to help you to find what you are looking for or to cross-reference information. I would certainly recommend this as the book to get, especially if you can only afford to get one health reference book. 5 stars (horse owner's veterinary handbook) - This book will come in very handy and is very simple to understand. 5 stars (Here's what I thought....) - Book discusses a very specific way of treating back pain. In short, you do these backward bending motions which is suppose to have an effect on the discs in your spine. In addition, you sit up straight and watch your posture. All in all, it didn't help me much, but I do know many people it has helped- so I say give it a try. Also liked "Treat Your Own Knees" if you have knee pain. 5 stars (i am taking responsibility for my back) - until now i have been dependent on my osteopath to fix me......this is a helpful book...i have spent a great deal of money on dr. and massage therapist treatment until......i found a percussion massager with infra red heat for $29.95, this immediately relieved muscle spasms. found at wally world after i had purchased a professional mini thumper that was so heavy i could not hold.....i do the exercises in book...thank you mr. mckenzie for writing this book..........a chronic back ache woman....... 5 stars ( Treat Your Own Back ) - Very clear and useful information. 5 stars (Excellent Book!!!) - Wow, excellent book!!! I have had four German shepherds altogether, (now currently three), and I was able to find very helpful information inside this book. I don't know how I've been without it all these years. Of course, it won't replace a veterinarian; however, it does give you a heads-up on what is going on & what a possible remedy would be. So far, it's been very accurate! 5 stars (This book is super!) - I can't begin to say how often this book has come in handy. I have had to look things up for my three dogs as well as numerous friends and their pets. It gives me peace of mind in some cases and has me rush my pets to the vet in others. It's like having a vet right there in the house with you. I love it so much I'm getting more as Christmas gifts for my friends with multiple dogs. 5 stars (Great resource for canine mommies and daddies) - This book is chock full with useful, easy to understand information. I am not a vet or a vet tech and I find this book very "layperson" friendly. It discusses all aspects of the dogs well being, physically and emotionally and also provides links to veterinary organizations and their websites. One of my favorite sections of the book is the step by step guide to trimming a dog's nails and how to avoid the dreadful "quick" vein and also how to take care of a boo-boo if one occurs. I highly recommend this book to anyone with a canine family member! ... 5 stars (The Great Resource) - This book is the best and most easy to read for up to date holistic treatments for your pet. I own a lot of animal books, and this one is a keeper!! 4 stars (A great starting point) - Having known relativley little on the subject of raw natural diets, I found this book to be an excellent starting point. It is easy to read, consise, to the point, and is very encouraging for the novice. It has a sample monthly menu which I found invaluable when changing my dogs over to the nautral diet. I have since read many books on the subject but I refer back to this book the most. I would have liked more specific information regarding feeding puppies and their specific growing needs. 3 stars (Too basic, even for a beginner) - I was new to RAW feeding prior to buying this book. I had done some research and reading on the Internet and already understood the concept of RAW feeding - the core food groups and the recommended proportions of each. However, I needed a book that would help me make the transition from just reading to actually preparing the meals for my pets. This book did not do it for me. It is more of a very basic "theory" book than a "practical" one. I bought the book online - if I had had a chance to flip through it first, I would have gone with another book. This book pretty much just explains what the food groups are, how they contribute to the health of your pets and the respective pros and cons. But, like I said, you can get this information for FREE on the Internet! Schultze only gives ONE easy recipe for BOTH dogs and cats, with varying amounts of ingredients depending on the weight of your pet. After joining a few RAW feeding discussion lists, I was told that most of the things I read in the book are NOT recommended by fellow raw feeders (eg: feeding GROUND meat, veggies, kelp & alfalfa supplements and BOTH cod-liver oil and fish oil, etc.) Even I knew going in that you can't use the same recipe for both dogs and cats and yet Schu... 5 stars (An inspiring and honest at the real Lance Armstrong) - Just as good as his first book, this book is a great "pick me up". It is good to learn a little about the dynamics of the Tour de France and how the result of one man standing on the podium is the work of many - often thankless. A real insight to what sets Armstrong apart, yet making him still so human. Definitely recommend! 3 stars (Very Inspirational) - Overall, it was a great book. Since I had read the first one, I felt it was a little repetitive, but you can never get enough inspiration, encouragement and motivation from Lance Armstrong. 5 stars (Thank You Lance) - Lance Armstrong shows in both this and "It's not about the bike" that he really is an average Joe deep inside. He shows the same fears, questions the same problems, and makes you feel that he could be your next door neighbor or a friend at work. He shows that with all he's done that what really matters is being honest, caring, and human when others may not. 5 stars (An Inspirational Story and Individual!) - The book covers Lance Armstrong's life - from birth, to his first bike, initial cycling successes, cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, returning to cycling to win the Tour de France, and becoming a first-time father. The book is hard to put down, and well-worth reading. Lance's mother was only 17 when he was born, played a very large role in his development, and continues to be very close to him. His father left before Lance reached his second birthday, and she worked two jobs while finishing school and raising Lance. She taught Lance never to quit. Lance got his first bike at age seven, and loved it. In high-school he tried football (not coordinated enough), then swimming (the 12-year-old was initially put in with 7-year-olds) and soon became quite good. At age thirteen Lance entered and won his first jr. triathalon, followed by another in Houston, and by age 15 was entering adult competitions, going from 15th place the first year to 5th the second. Lance began earning $20,000/year as a competitor, and then ended up winning the World Championship in Norway. Before this happened, however, Lance had to learn racing tactics (eg. saving himself until close to the end), and as often as not became too eager and faded before the finish. Then came cancer - described by Lance as the "best thing that happened to me." Early symptoms were attributed to "bicycle injury," or "flu." However, after coughing up blood, Lance sought help - eventually resulting in the diagnosis of advanced testicular cancer which had spread to the lungs (12 locations) and his brain (2 locations). Initial testical removal and chemotherapy took place in Austin, with little adverse impact. Getting a second opinion took him to Houston, and a third in Indianapolis, where brain surgery and much more aggressive chemotherapy were undertaken. Lance not only lost all his hair, but also ended up with prolonged daily retching. Along the way, Lance ... 4 stars (Good step forward) - I'm not finished reading yet, but I've learned some very important information to helop me get and keep my blood sugar levels in a normal and safe range. 4 stars ( Dr RIchard Bernsteins Completre Guide to Normal Blood Sugars ) - I found this book to be valuable ifor the resources, which is in and of itself extremely important, and his common sense approach, which is necessary to keep from the worn out phrase "leading authority", goodness knows we have too many of those these days, and it ends up a work of art and refeshing in it's honest approach. Do this and this is the rusult you will arrive at. TRUE. As for me he is a hero, however I simply cannot live on 25 carbs a day. MADELINE B OGLE PhD 5 stars (A LIFESAVER-IF YOU'RE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR HEALTH ) - Like others who have reviewed the book, I had very poor blood sugar control on the ADA diet. I hit rock bottom in 2004 when I suffered several weeks of blindness, and was unable to work. I have now lost about forty pounds, and have average blood sugar readings in the 120 range. Previously, my average would have been at least one hundred points higher. When I get off the diet, my blood sugar goes right back into the two and three hundred range instantly. I have had improvement in symptoms. For example, the feeling in my extermities is much better. For the present, my diabetic retinopathy has stabilized, which I pray will continue. I do not find the diet change to be much of a sacrifice. That might be because I experienced the horror of having the disease completely take over my life. It can be inconvenient to eat out, but with a little creativity, I have a diverse and appealing menu. I have not been to Dr. Bernstein's clinic, but hope to go eventually. I recommend the book to any diabetic I meet, and consider it the principle reason for the improvement in my health. ...
