5 stars (great update) - The improvemnet from the first cs is very good, for one it loads faster, and that in itself is worth the money to upgrade. i havent yet explored the other new features, but I trust adobe. 5 stars (Use only for stand alone PSCS upgrade) - If you use Adobe Creative Suite CS, this is not the upgrade for you. You will need to purchase an entire Suite upgrade. You cannot upgrade only the Photoshop CS application within the Suite. But, Photoshop is a fantastic program that works more smoothly than the operating system underwhich it works. With a couple of plugins from Photokit, it is the best thing for a digital photographer who wants to make dramatic, beautiful prints. 3 stars (Caution to Creative Suite CS users trying PhotoshopCS2 upgrade) - I already know the fabulous new features of Photoshop CS2. I have Creative Suite CS Premium. I purchased this upgrade for Photoshop to gain the new features. After several attempts in trying to install this software, I called Adobe, only to learn that this Photoshop CS2 upgrade does NOT work with the full version of Creative Suite CS....period !!! No where on their packaging is there such a caution. It says it is compatable with all versions of Photoshop. Funny...I have Photoshop CS in my Creative Suite Premium package...but guess what??....so what....it don't work !!!! I've waisted $140.00, and am not gonna spend $744.00 for Creative Suite CS2 Upgrade !!!!!! ...

5 stars (Better than ever) - I was waiting for CS2 after using the CS. There are too many problems in CS. And I am very happy with CS2 now. The software is a lot easier to use, less problems. I have been using illustrator since illustrator 4. CS2 is definitly better than ever!! 4 stars (Adobe CS2) - Not bad, however, in Version 10, was able to use CNTRL + to zoom in. Used the + on the number pad -- now this function doesn't work, and the only + that works is that in the top row of the keyboard. The zoom out "-" in the number pad still works, but not the plus. I say that's not good. Why ruin things with an upgrade. 5 stars (Smash Hit !!!) - OK, sorry, I've been vectoring line art since 1990. My current machine is an AMD Athlon XP with the 333 FSB, 1 Gig ram & 80 Gig HD shared on network & a 40 Gig HD for software, OS is XPpro, it's 2 years old I think. I installed three cathode ray tubes, you know; big boxy monitors, the largest of which is a 21 inch monster right in my face all day. I read the reviews here and started "Quaking" in my boots! Oops I said to myself, and I looked up my previous day's purchases for the new Artist I just hired. Sure enough; I bought CS2 for the new machine. So I downloaded the 30 day trial for Illustrator CS2 Upyours, I mean Upgrade. Replacing my old Illustrator 8.01 These kids I've been interviewing made me think I should take a look outside MY CAVE! So I got it loaded up and sure enough; it takes longer to load than my old corrupted rusty buddy; Illustrator 8.01, about twice as long. ( so leave it running ) !!!!!!!!! BUT WOW !!!!!!! I should have done this sooner, or should I have ? As soon as It was running Illustrator CS2 AUTO UPDATED ITSELF. It wanted it's Adobe Bridge fixed up. So I let it. CorelDraw Graphics Suite 12 Upgrade

5 stars (CorelDraw Graphics Suite 12) - This is an excellent graphics program which suits my needs well. 5 stars (True Graphic Creation Power) - I've used them all: Illustrator, Corel, Photoshop, Fireworks, MS Word (I know, I know..) Pagemaker; now Indesign. Since the 386 processor i've used these programs. Corel Draw has ALWAYS been easier to use. Yes they ALL have powerful features but for me, Corel Draw has been the vector based graphic program that I like and count on. I primarily use Corel Draw 12 and Photoshop CS. With these two programs you can do everything short of 3D animation. Theres is no easier way to create a poster or a flyer or a newsletter than Corel Draw! This program is awesome because it is powerful AND easy to use! My recommendation: Get Corel 12 and Photoshop CS. You'll thank me! 2 stars (Very bad crash issues and instability problems) - I've been using CorelDRAW and PPT since version 4, and I must say that the latest version, whether it be because of the patch or not, is widly unstable. For instance, 5 minutes ago I threw together a texture for a 3D model I'd been working on and as soon as I switched to the "Brush" swatch, crashed. The App Recovery Wizard doesn't even work correctly. It hangs and says the same thing each time. This crash happens often, reguardless of the operation you are doing and only seems to target certain machine setups. Tech support used to be good, however, they suck now and the sarcasm I've gotten from some of them made me want to punch glass objects. Please Corel, patch 12 so it works! AR ...

CorelDRAW Essentials 2 Drawing and Photo-enhancing Made Easy

1 stars (Essentially a Waste of Money) - I was a regular user of CorelDraw 8 for Windows 98 on my older computer. When I bought a new machine, Draw 8 would not work with Windows XP, so I needed a newer program to access and edit my .cdr files. I called Corel Corp. in Canada who assured me that Essentials contained basically everything in CorelDraw 11 (and therefore my version 8). After receiving the program, I found it to be a severely stripped down program, missing most of the essential components of the earlier programs. It is really frustrating when so many of the useful features are "grayed out" or just plain missing. Save your money and avoid this one. 5 stars (Good for less) - A very good alternative to the complete software package. This slim version is more than enough for home and small office needs: labels, brochures and other printing material. 2 stars (What Gives! The Original Essentials Version is better than version 2 ) - I have been using Corel Essentials, the white with horizontal blue green box (original version) for quite some time, I decide to upgrade to the "newest version 2". So, I fork out $80 plus shipping. Got it 5 days later; I installed the software, all looks good... then I start using it, standard features from version one are GONE! There are no upgrade gimmicks or download this or that, they were just simply removed - my most used features! Unacceptable, I contacted customer support, they were very polite and helpful but recommended for my imaging needs to regress to Corel Essentials, the Original software I had as the new "one omits many features" the second version just does not cut it. I am just bit dissapointed in the company but though (and give credit where is due) Corel Essentials is so far the Best I have used so I can and wont beat them up too much in their effort to sell less in a "new & not much improved" new box. (every corporation does this - from cereal to soap) My advise, stick with the original Essentials versio...

Pinnacle Studio Plus 9 AV-DV Deluxe

5 stars (One of the lucky ones) - This product and the stand alone software version have received a lot of flak in these reviews. I have not had any problems and have found the software to be extremely easy to use. I used to use Sonic's MyDVD and I had created about 10 DVDs with it. I was very unhappy with MyDVD as it constantly crashed and spit out error messages that aren't listed in Sonic's Knowledge Base. I bought Studio 9 on the PC World recommendation and it was great. My first project was to edit and burn over 1 Gig of MPEGs from a trip to Disney World. MyDVD crashed anytime I tried to make a DVD with these files. Studio 9 burned it in about 3 hours, which is far less time than MyDVD takes for a similar size project. Clearly lots of people have issues with this product based on the reviews, but I just needed to put in my two cents that it is awesome. 3 stars (Alright I guess) - I heard the reviews about this product and I still bought it because PC MAGAZINE said it was good. I bought it and it does what it says. The only thing is that when you transfer a VHS tape to DVD it takes forever to render and burn. It must take at least 4 hours for it to render/read and burn. Too long is you ask me! 1 stars (Don't buy this product) - The specs for Pinncale Studio Plus are impresive but despite hours of trying I could never get the software to successfully complete a movie. The program hangs after 5 - 15 min of rendering, regardless of what I am trying to create (DVD, AVI, MPEG, etc.) This is a fatal flaw. The included trouble shooting guide even admints this is a potential problem and basically say to keep reinstalling the program and trying different settings. This should make one nervous. There are any number of other video capture/creating solutions out there to choose from, choose something else. ...

5 stars (Best Photo Editor) - I believe I have gone through every Photo Editor Trial out there, and this is by far the best. Yes even better than great and glorious photoshop. why? cause it's user friendly. you dont have to be a technical geek. im not one of them, and i could figure out how to use all the tools before i lost my creativity. and for fifty something dollars! this is truly worth the buy. if only i had the money, hahaha. on a more personal note, this program allowed me to do some art that saved my life really it did. so i guess this is a thanks to ulead, your 30 day trial saved my life, and helped my imagination run free. 4 stars (Flexible works at all levels) - This is a interesting software package to work with. You can obtain very good results with little knowledge with the single 'autofi'x button to choose from the multitude of preset buttons for creating lots of standard corrections and effects. The software is even capable of changing the 'look' of the preset buttons to a 'preview' of the change to your photograph. The presets are a scripts of various individual tools. You can create your own scripts, combining tools in any order you wish. You can also work with each tool independently either with presets for that specific tool or by using the controls to create your own degree of effect. Almost every tool, allows you to see simultaneous before and after views of the change or split screen before and after combination of the photograph being changed. You can also apply any effect as a 'preview' and can undo any tool, script to any level. I particularly like the choice of selection tools. Besides the standard selection by color, you can choose with several different methods/tools. They have a smart extraction tool that lets you paint a broad outline of the area(s) you want to select and the software does the dirty work (provided there is enough contrast/color difference) to give you a fine division between the subjects. SONY Vegas Movie Studio + Windows

1 stars (Easy to use, burning is problematic) - I would agree with most reviews that this product is easy to use. The timeline in movie studio is absolutely wonderful. And the "show me how" user assistance function can't be beat. Finally, the price is reasonable. The problem lyes in burning your project. NOTE: Sony Vegas Movie Studio does NOT burn DVDs, or any other format for that matter. You must use its cousin software DVD Builder (included) to burn. Why they would not integrate the two is just plain weird. And sometimes there are technical issues going from the one software to the next. I have used many different editing softwares and the Sony software creates more burning errors than all others combined. This is very frustrating after spending 12-20 hours on a complex project, only to find that it is for naught since it will not burn. To be fair I have had some that worked without any issues. But too many have failed, and I even own a Sony computer! My advise is that you look elsewhere. Pinnacle seems to be very good as I have several friends who are video professionals who use it. But anything is better if it allows you to burn something you have put your heart into. With Sony, you really roll the dice. Perhaps my projects are too large for Sony to handle? This is my only explanation and I have used Sony support but to no avail. So perhaps if you only work on small projects this is okay for the money.
