3 stars (Too Easy) - I am working with a rising senior; she and I both feel the tests in this book are too easy and easier than the real SAT. I am resorting to old volumes of "10 Real SAT's" and other company's test prep materials. 5 stars (The Official SAT Study Guide: For the New SAT) - Exactly what I need to teach the SAT. 1 stars (This is not even funny) - Is it a good book or not? Does it help or you are waisting you time and money? It, baby, depends on what you are lookin' for. If you want to study for SAT then you have no choice but to buy this book. What you will see on a test day is in this book. This writing comes from test-makers and you can (hopefully obviously) assume that it will help. I don't really know what to say here... Biology Cliffs AP

5 stars (The Perfect Study Aid) - Cliffs AP is the perfect study aid for the AP Biology Exam. It covers all the material you need to know for the exam, at the level of specificity expected. At the end of each chapter there are questions that are similar to those you would encounter on the AP exam and an explanation given for each answer. Also possible essay questions from each section are given with a detailed summary of what information is important. If you know everthing in this book it is very easy to obtain a 5, just like I did. *Note that the exam has changed and there are 100 multiple choice questions and not 120 as mentioned in the guidebook. 5 stars (An absolutely amazing review.) - Just go and buy it. The other books in the contest aren't even worth talking about. If its in this book, it might be on the AP test. It's also a godly review for regular tests. 5 stars (Great AP Bio book-- Not just for review, but it can teach too) - This is a great AP Bio book--all the information is plainly laid out, along with practice questions at the end of each topic. It really helped on free-response. This book will help on SATII bio too--seriously. I just wish I had gotten this earlier in the year so I could have really studied everything more in-depth instead of just skimming (my class completely skipped plants and kingdoms), but I was still able to get a 5. I credit this book for that. ...

GRE Exam 2006- Premier Program Kaplan Gre Exam Book - CD-Rom

5 stars (Great Study Book) - This book was very helpful to use for preparing for the General GRE Exam. I thought they covered each section of the text very well and explained how to do well in each part of the exam. The practice tests were a great study tool as well. 3 stars (Warning to Mac Users) - If you use a Mac, AVOID this book. The reason I state this is that you won't find out until you've opened the envelope containing the CD that it works on Windows only. They do not have a Mac CD to send you -- you are up a creek. As for the rest of the book -- it's standard test-taking skills. If you need that, it's fine. 5 stars (The best resource) - I only had a few weeks to study for the GRE and the Premier program, 2006 edition, was the best resource. It helped in all three catergories and gave useful examples. The accompanying CD was also a great tool. It gave great practice tests that helped me prepare for the actual test. Kaplan PSAT 2006 Edition Kaplan Psat

4 stars (Same as 2005) - While, this book is great, comparing it to the 2005 version I saw that the practice tests were exactly the same. Basically the 2005 version just got a new cover. If you dont have the 2005 version, get the 2006, but if u do buy something else unless you want repeat questions. 5 stars (This book delivers results) - This year's edition is basically the same as 2005's. Last year when my son took the pre-test in the book, he scored a 169. By time he finished the book and took the last practice test, he scored a 211. When he took the actual PSAT test, he scored a 207. The practice tests really help. And Kaplan's easy-to-use book was very readable. ...

GMAT 2006- Premier Program Kaplan Gmat Book - CD-Rom

3 stars (Good practice problems, bad presentation) - I preferred 'Cracking the GMAT', which I read first. I ended up using this book primarily for the practice problems. My big complaint with this book was that in the answers to the practice questions, the problem isn't included. To see the original question, you have to flip to the quiz, then back to the answers...this style makes it difficult to see where you went wrong. Note that the CD version only works on Windows, and you won't see this information printed anywhere obvious. 3 stars (Some parts good, some less so.) - The good: The book itself has some fairly good explanations of things and useful tricks. The practice questions are nice to have, especially the data sufficiency questions which are so unlike anything the average college student has previously encountered. The mediocre: Much of the explanation is *too* much, I think, for a book that's supposed to be geared at people who either have graduated or will be shortly graduating from college, but I may be nitpicking with that. What I definitely find irritating is that the book seems to have been poorly proofread; I caught one reference to 'going back to a question later' or something similar which must have been from a version predating the CAT! The bad: The internet portion offered works very poorly and doesn't give you much that the book and CD don't, though they certainly hype it enough. And the practice questions are generally of easy-to-moderate difficulty, even though it's an adaptive test, probably to get high-level test takers to purchase their separate GMAT 800 book. The gist: If you just want to survive it, this'll probably do you fine. If you're expecting to expand on your preparation with other books, question sets, or prep programs, this seems like a good place to start. 3 stars (GOOD STRATEGY BOOK) - Provided a lot of strategies that helped ease some nerves. This book tells you how to think through questions, eliminate the wrong answers instead of looking for the right one was the most important lesson learned. This book however lacked the number of questions. I used this book and the Saunder's Comprehensive Review book to study for the NCLEX-RN exam and am happy to report that I passed the exam on one try. 5 stars (Excellent) - If you don't pass your boards after reading the first nine or chapters you must be an idiot!!!!! 4 stars (Kaplan NCLEX review) - I really liked the booklet and the strategies that are given but the CD ROM left a little to be desired in my opinion. ...

Wiley CPA Examination Review 2005- 4-Volume SET Wiley Cpa Examination Review 4 Vol Set

4 stars (Good study aid but watch out for errors) - I am in the process of studying for the CPA exam (I take the Audit section tomorrow), so I haven't worked my way through all of the books in this 4 volume set. Each of the books is divided into 'modules' to help you study by topic area. The information presented at the beginning of each module is concise and well laid out; a great aid to learning. The multiple choice questions in each module are challenging and the answers provided help to explain the correct answers. Three of the books (except BEC) have 'simulation' questions. These are a valuable resource in studying, however, Whittington and Delaney have done a poor job of editing these simulations and the problems and answers are riddled with errors. So, watch out! These errors can be a source of much frustration. Overall, this 4 volume set has helped me improve my knowledge for the CPA exam. Happy Studying! ...

4 stars (Great Book!) - GAAP is very hard to understand if it is not in laymen's terms. This book is great at "translating" the prounouncements. I definitely recommend it. 5 stars (Great GAAP Resource) - As a frequent reader of accounting literature in my daily activities, I have used the Wiley GAAP Guide for several years. The authors have converted complex accounting issues into well written and easy to understand language. 4 stars (A good FINAL Review of your knowledge) - I found this book benificial for me since it gave me quite good idea on my TOEFL score. It coantains 5 actual tests and 1 extra test that coantain a sealed questtions and ansewr sheet the same way on the paper based test. Excellent for Paper based but only Good for the Computer Based test. Though this prep kit dont give any further explanation on Eng so u should have a good knowledge of english before using this guide, since it only help you know what to expect on the test. 5 stars (Very reflective of the real test) - This book is the best of its kind. The questions are extremely similar to the ones one will see during the actual test. 4 stars (Give a Glimpse of the Actual Test) - Being published by ETS, this book will give you a look of what the actual test looks like. This workbook comes with 5 (five) practice tests, all with reviews and explanations. I use all the practice tests, before I work with the ETS PowerPrep. Combined with PowerPrep, this workbook should give us some predictions of our actual score might end up. Although, this workbook is packed with practice test, it doesn't have thorough explanations on how to attack specific questions. So, you have to buy other books as a companion. 5 stars (I'd write this book!) - If I were to write my own SAT book, this would be it. I've read literally every SAT book on the market. Some are good, some are bad, some are outstanding. This one is truly outstanding. After tutoring a student, I have him read sections out of the book and then practice with the real questions suggested in the book. Every student has said that he loves this book and finds it to be very thorough yet easy to follow. It's a truly ingenious idea to teach concepts and then point students right to real questions. The practice for the students has been invaluable. The one section that I think is a bit lacking is the critical reading section, more specifically, the reading passages. Then again, most books are lacking in this area because one really has to find one's own style of reading. The only thing is to practice reading sections and develop a method. Trust me, this book is well worth the $25. In fact, whenever I work with a new student, the two books I buy him are the Official Guide and this book. I've seen students scores raise anywhere from 50 to over 300 points combined. Many of the students attribute it to the clarity of this book and practicing with real questions. 4 stars (Benefit of a doubt) - Right, I give it benefit of a doubt - that's why 4 stars. Concept is good. I have not checked it out it yet. I try to scan new SAT publications (I am almost afraid to say "as a tutor", because so many reviewers claim to be tutors/teachers in their reviews, you can't help but start thinking whether it's for real). What I did notice in this book reviews, and have noticed lately in many other books reviews, is a very peculiar trend. 4 stars (A pleasure to read and excellent introduction to algebra) - Kenn Amdahl has succeeded in making algebra look like a game and maybe he is right. I recommend this book to anybody who has the slightest interest in the subject. It reads almost like listening to your mathematically inclined buddy exchanging a few words on mathematics over a beer; that's what I felt, two buddies getting together and just shooting breeze over mathematics. It certainly made me conscious of paying more attention to VOCABULARY and CONCEPTS and less on manipulation. The Real ACT Prep Guide- The Only Official Prep Guide From The Makers Of The ACT Real Act Prep Guid

5 stars (Best Book Out There) - Everyone studies for the ACT in a different way but the one thing that everyone needs to do is practice. This book offers 3 practice tests published by the College Board. Getting into the ACT offers 2. My advice is get both of them. When I did 2 practice tests before this book I got 28's on both. Then I worked through the 3 tests in it and saw significant improvements each time. When I finally took the ACT I got a 31 on it so from personal experience I recommend this book. 5 stars (Taking the ACT, this book is a "must have"!) - The Real ACT Prep Guide is a great resource for preparing for the test. I can't understand why anyone would pay hundreds of dollars for a classroom course or private tutor, when they can just buy this book? The Real ACT Prep Guide allowed me to work at my own pace, whenever I wanted to, 24/7. 4 stars (Very useful + PMBOK must - Passed exam) - Yes this book is good. But ONLY in conjunction with PMBOK guide. The Inputs/Tools/Outputs are not that intuitive in Rita's book. I had several questions that I could answer only with PMBOK's knowledge. 5 stars (Easy to Understand) - Good study guide that is easy to read. Nice sample questions at the end that can help prepare one for the exam. 4 stars (Found it very useful for PMP Prep) - Initially I did not buy this book when I was starting PMP preparation. When I heard about the Book and CD in many forums, I was curious to try it out. The book and CD together turned out to be very useful, even through I wouldn't say those were essential for my prep work. The CD comes with 1300 questions, which gave a whole lot confidence after trying out. The prices are bit high though. I also used Andy Crowe book and lots of reference on PMI web site. The PMP Exam- How to Pass on Your First Try 2004 Edition

5 stars (Fantastic Resource for PMP Preperation) - After an aggressive 2-week period of study and preperation using Crowe's book as one of my two primary resources, I took and passed the PMP exam. I didn't crack the PMBOK, nor attend corporate training "boot camp" courses. My study plan went like this: Read "PMP Exam How to Pass on Your First Try" thoroughly and in order; took all post-chapter quizzes and tracked those scores; took final practice exam. I then read Tony Johnson's, "PMP Success Series: Certification Exam Manual (6th Edition)" and used the same formula (this book is more thorough than Crowe's but I found it tended to delve so deeply into the detail of the processes, that it often came at the expense of the "why?" which can inhibit your ability to grasp the entire framework; also the quiz questions were not quite as close the what I found on the real PMP as Crowe's book. Then, I went back to the Crowe book (which I had decided was my favorite by now), and began carefully reading through it again, paying special attention to the nuances and how each process fit within the overall framework. For more detail, I refered back to Johnson's book, which again, is a very valuable source expecially for specifics around tools and processes and I highly recommend it as well. Note that I purchased and browsed a couple other PMP study aids, but found those sub-standard by comparison. Learning the same materials from a variety of views is sound instructional theory, so I would suggest others apply a similar reasoning for a more comprehensive study plan. But if I had to only choose one, I would give Crowe's book the nod over any others because of it's ease of reading; it's ability to draw the entire PMI framework together and most importantly, the excellent practice questions (including the practice exam) that most closely matched the look and feel and difficulty level of the real exam. LSAT Answers- Unauthorized- Unofficial - Unsurpassed Explanations

5 stars (As expected) - Friendly notification of item sent, and quick delivery! Item as described. A highly recommended seller! 3 stars (Be Careful Assuming It Actually Has All the "Answers") - Because there aren't comparable books out there with explanations for every test question in every released LSAT Preptest included in "10 More Actual, Official LSAT Preptests," I would still consider buying this book for lack of a better option. However, calling the explanations "Unsurpassed" is reaching quite a bit. The reasoning given for why wrong answers are wrong is often not helpful, and sometimes even incorrect. The book occasionally makes a correct answer sound like it should have been chosen as the best selection among poor choices, but if someone understands the actual logical basis behind a correct answer, then the correct answer is clearly the only choice that would satisfy a question. For example, the book has a habit of dismissing incorrect answers with the terribly unhelpful explanation, "So what?" That is not a paraphrase; the book will actually analyze an incorrect answer choice with the words, "So what?" Now, if someone picked that answer choice, and needed help understanding why it was wrong, "So what?" would not even begin to help him or her. "So what?" is not a sufficient explanation because, if it were that obvious, no one would have ever been tempted to choose an incorrect answer choice in the first place! Regarding the inaccurate reasoning given for eliminating wrong answer choices and selecting the right one, an example wouldn't be very clear here because it would be totally out of context for someone who didn't have the Preptest questions in front of him or her to examine. However, consider looking through the book at a bookstore after taking a Preptest, and carefully reading the explanations that "LSAT Answers" provides for why any of your correct answers are correct. CCNA 1 and 2 Companion Guide- Revised Cisco Networking Academy Program 3rd Edition Cisco Networ

2 stars (Poorly written) - I am using this book in a CCNA semester 1 class. Although it is by Cisco and therefore contains the information they want you to know, it is poorly written. It is as if the original text were 3 times as long, and to shorten it, they had to take out every third sentence, because it does not flow, and concepts are often only half-explained. I am *often* reading it and think "What????" (And I'm fairly certain it's not just me - I have a B.S. and M.S in Computer Science and plenty of real-world computer experience). All in all, I have to say that this is not a high-quality book. Although it's not a substitute for the CCNA material, I really like the book called "Interconnections" by Radia Perlman. 5 stars (An Excellent Companion) - Cisco seems to have made a transition from being a high performance workstation and server supplier to being a supplier of high end networking equipment. It seems like you cannot go into an Internet Service Provider without seeing at least some Cisco equipment. As such, being an authority on Cisco equipment and even more important understanding the Cisco approach to networking is a good start on employment. And the crowning achievement is the Cisco Certified Network Associate certificate. This book is a companion to the on line course. Best 361 Colleges- 2006 Best Colleges

2 stars (Did anyone fact-check this book?) - I just received this book. The second school profile I turned to (Stanford University) was completely botched. While the narrative text seems to be about Stanford, the sidebars full of statistical information is obviously not related to Stanford. I have no idea what school it belongs to - but it lists Stanford as a "public" institution with an in-state tuition of just a few thousand dollars annually. I wish. Lucky for me I knew enough about the school to recognize these patent errors. Now I am left to wonder what other information in this book is completely off the mark? Everything else I have read seems to fit what I know about the schools, but I don't know that much about many of the schools reviewed. 5 stars (Get The Normal Stuff, then Ask the Students) - The nice thing about this book is its philosophy of asking the students at the schools to rate the colleges they attend. That way you get the low down on things like the quality of life, cafeteria food, social life, political leaning, all in all some 60 categories. That's in addition, of course to the standard information that you'd get from the school itself like admissions criteria, deadlines, phone numbers etc. You've got to enjoy some of the categories in which colleges are ranked: Under Politics: Students Most Nostalgic for Ronald Reagan Students Most Nostalgic for Bill Clinton Students Most Politically Active Election? What Election? Under Food: Best Campus Food Is It Food? There are about 3,500 colleges and universities in the United States. Selecting the 361 to feature here is a combination of science and art. At the top is certainly a set of schools like Harvard or Stanford that will be on any list. As you get down into the hundreds there is more choice. The PowerScore LSAT Logic Games Bible

5 stars (Great for Games Mgmt) - Better than Kaplan's products. Not just how the games are set up and work, but realistic strategies for success. 5 stars (HELP ) - This book was very helpful. It is patient, clear and organized, all the things needed when dealing with this very difficult subject. Highly reccomended! I found it much simpler, and more effective than Kaplan. 5 stars (The Best, Period) - I've been studying for the LSAT off and on for the past two years, and I've worked my way through a lot of study guides. Princeton Review's LSAT publication and the Kaplan book (not the 180) are good as general overviews, but I wouldn't bank on taking away any methods that will drastically improve your score. Additionally, using such material in addition to PowerScore materials may leave you confused as to what symbols or methods to employ in a given situation. That said, this is by far and away the most powerful tool that you can have in your arsenal as you prepare for the LSAT. It teaches clear and easy symbolization techniques, helpful places to look in making deductions, and the most effective ways to tackle different kinds of questions. Even after using other LSAT prep materials, I was still answering only about half of the questions in the Logic Games section correctly. After going through this book thoroughly twice, I am much more efficient and scoring near perfect in Games on every previously administered LSAT that I take. This book, in combination with the Logic Reasoning Bible, raised my practice LSAT score ranges from the mid-150's (153-157) to the high 160's (166-169). Beware of study prep materials that tell you that you can perform without first making deductions on the Logic Games portion of the LSAT, as deductions are incredibly important (most likely not only for me) in pre-phrasing answers and eliminating wrong answer choices, allowing a rapid attack of the questions. 5 stars (Better Core Material in this Prep Guide) - Critiques of the scores from the first administrations of 'New SAT' must have warranted some of the updates I found in the 2006 version of this book. This manual has a slightly different format than the 2005 version, but contains 'meatier' content and some updated and refined techniques.
